Kant Research Center

The Kant Research Center at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is dedicated to the study of Immanuel Kant's critical philosophy in its entire breadth. Particular importance is attached to determining its historical context, its reception, and its systematic relevance for contemporary philosophical debates.

The Research Center is responsible for editing the Kant-Studien and the Kantstudien-Ergänzungshefte. It is closely connected to the Kant-Gesellschaft e.V. Bonn and maintains an intensive exchange with the other national Kant societies as well as with Kant scholars from all over the world.

The Research Center welcomes and supports the research stays of foreign guests at the Johannes Gutenberg University, who have access to an extensive stock of Kant literature in the University Library and in the library of the Department of Philosophy. The Kant Research Center itself has a Kantiana collection and bibliographic documentation on Kant's philosophy. Exchange students and postgraduates can attend the courses and research colloquia on Kant's philosophy offered regularly at the Philosophisches Seminar.

In cooperation with the Kant Society, the Bibliographical Information Service is provided on a regular basis, which, unlike the annual bibliography in Kant Studies, contains data that is not yet fully verifiable. The most recent issue can be found here: No. 70, December 2023.
